حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

كَانَتْ أُمُّ الْعَلَاءِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةُ تَقُولُ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ الْمَدِينَةَ اقْتَرَعَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ عَلَى سَكَنِهِمْ، فَطَارَ لَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ فِي السُّكْنَى فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: مَا أَدْرِي وَأَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ مَا يُفْعَلُ بِي وَلَا بِكُمْ

Translation

✧ Umm al-ʿAlāʾ al-Anṣāriyya used to say: When the Emigrants arrived in Madinah, the Anṣār cast lots for lodging them, and ʿUthmān b. Maẓʿūn fell to us for housing. Then she mentioned the ḥadīth, except that he said: I do not know—and I am the Messenger of God—what will be done with me or with you.
