حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أُمِّهِ قَالَتْ

إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ مَظْعُونٍ لَمَّا قُبِضَ قَالَتْ أُمُّ خَارِجَةَ بِنْتُ زَيْدٍ: طِبْتَ أَبَا السَّائِبِ، خَيْرُ أَيَّامِكَ الْخَيْرُ، فَسَمِعَهَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَذِهِ ؟ قَالَتْ: أَنَا. قَالَ ﷺ: وَمَا يُدْرِيكِ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَجَلْ، عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ مَا رَأَيْنَا إِلَّا خَيْرًا، وَهَذَا أَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَاللهِ مَا أَدْرِي مَا يُصْنَعُ بِي !

✧ When he passed away, Umm Khārijah bint Zayd said, "May you be well, Abū al-Sā'ib, the best of your days is goodness." The Prophet of Allah ﷺ heard her and said, "Who is this?" She replied, "It is I." The Prophet ﷺ then asked, "And how do you know?" She said, "O Messenger of Allah, it was ‘Uthmān ibn Maẓ‘ūn." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, ‘Uthmān ibn Maẓ‘ūn, we have seen nothing but good from him. And here I am, the Messenger of Allah, and by Allah, I do not know what will happen to me."
