✧ that she was married to ʿUbayd Allah b. Jahsh, who had gone to the Negus — ʿAli b. Ishaq said: and he had traveled to the Negus — and he died. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Umm Habiba while she was in the land of Abyssinia; the Negus married her to him and gave her a dower of four thousand, then equipped her from his own resources and sent her to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with Shurahbil b. Hasana, and all her trousseau was from the Negus. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not send her anything. And the dowers of the Prophet's ﷺ wives were four hundred dirhams.

machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Maʿmar narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, from Umm Ḥabībah. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Khālid b. Musāfir contradicted him and narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, as a mursal report (mursal), and the mursal version is the closer of the two to being correct.
