✧ The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to visit her every Friday, and she said: O Prophet of Allah—on the day of Badr—do you permit me to go out with you? I will nurse your sick and treat your wounded; perhaps Allah will grant me martyrdom. He said: Stay, for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will grant you martyrdom. She had freed a slave-girl and a slave-boy of hers upon her death, but they waited too long, so they smothered her with a velvet cloth until she died, and they fled. Umar was brought the news, and it was said to him: Umm Waraqah's slave-boy and slave-girl killed her and fled. Umar stood among the people and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit Umm Waraqah, saying: Let us go visit the martyr. Her slave-girl so-and-so and her slave-boy so-and-so smothered her and then fled, so let no one give them shelter, and whoever finds them, let him bring them. They were brought and crucified, and they were the first two to be crucified.
