✧ A woman went out to pray. A man met her and covered her with his clothes, then he had his way with her and left. Another man came to her, and she said to him: “A man did such-and-such to me.” The man went in pursuit of him. A group of the Anṣār came to her and stopped by her, and she said to them: “A man did such-and-such to me.” So they went in pursuit of him, and they brought the man who had gone in pursuit of the man who had assaulted her. They took him to the Prophet ﷺ. She said: “It is this one.” When the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to be stoned, the one who had assaulted her said: “O Messenger of God, by God, I am the one.” He said to the woman: “Go, for God has forgiven you,” and he said good words to the man. It was said: “O Prophet of God, will you not stone him?” He said: “He has repented with a repentance that if the people of Madinah were to repent with it, it would be accepted from them.”
