✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah, his Companions fell ill, and Abū Bakr fell ill, and ʿĀmir b. Fuhayrah, the freed slave of Abū Bakr, and Bilāl fell ill. So ʿĀʾishah asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for permission to visit them, and he permitted her. She said to Abū Bakr: How do you find yourself? He said: Every man is met in his family, and death is nearer than the strap of his sandal. She asked ʿĀmir, and he said: I found death before tasting it; indeed the coward's death comes from above him. She asked Bilāl, and he said: Would that I knew whether I will spend a night in Fakhkh with sweet rush and jallīl around me. So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him what they said. He looked at the sky and said: O Allah, make Madinah beloved to us as You made Makkah beloved to us, or more so, and bless us in its ṣāʿ and its mudd, and transfer its fever to Mahyaʿah, which is al-Juḥfah, as they claimed.
