حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا أُنْزِلَتْ آيَةُ التَّخْيِيرِ، قَالَ: بَدَأَ بِعَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ، إِنِّي عَارِضٌ عَلَيْكِ أَمْرًا فَلَا تَفْتَاتِنَّ فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ حَتَّى تَعْرِضِيهِ عَلَى أَبَوَيْكِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأُمِّ رُومَانَ قَالَتْ: أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ، إِنِّي عَارِضٌ عَلَيْكِ أَمْرًا، فَلَا تَفْتَاتِنَّ فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ حَتَّى تَعْرِضِيهِ عَلَى أَبَوَيْكِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأُمِّ رُومَانَ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ، إِنِّي عَارِضٌ عَلَيْكِ أَمْرًا، فَلَا تَفْتَاتِنَّ فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ حَتَّى تَعْرِضِيهِ عَلَى أَبَوَيْكِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأُمِّ رُومَانَ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ: قَالَ اللهُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لأَزْوَاجِكَ إِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ أُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحًا جَمِيلا وَإِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْمُحْسِنَاتِ مِنْكُنَّ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا قَالَتْ: فَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ اللهَ، وَرَسُولَهُ، وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ، وَلَا أُؤَامِرُ فِي ذَلِكَ أَبَوَيَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَأُمَّ رُومَانَ قَالَتْ: فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثُمَّ اسْتَقْرَأَ الْحُجَرَ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ: فَقُلْنَ مِثْلَ الَّذِي قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ.

✧ When the verse of choice was revealed, he said: He began with ʿAʾishah and said: “O ʿAʾishah, I am going to present a matter to you, so do not decide anything about it until you have presented it to your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman.” She said: “O Messenger of God, what is it?” He said: “O ʿAʾishah, I am going to present a matter to you, so do not decide anything about it until you have presented it to your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman.” She said: “O Messenger of God, what is it?” He said: “O ʿAʾishah, I am going to present a matter to you, so do not decide anything about it until you have presented it to your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman.” She said: “O Messenger of God, what is it?” He said: “God says: ‘O Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a kind release. But if you desire God and His Messenger and the Abode of the Hereafter, then God has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward.’” She said: “I desire God, His Messenger, and the Abode of the Hereafter, and I will not consult my parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman, about that.” She said: The Prophet ﷺ laughed, then he went through the rooms asking, and they all said the same as ʿAʾishah had said.
