✧ A man asked permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, “What a bad son of the clan!” But when he entered, the Messenger of God ﷺ was cheerful to him and conversed expansively with him. Then he left, and another man asked permission, and the Prophet ﷺ said, “What a good son of the clan!” But when he entered, he did not converse expansively with him as he had with the other, nor was he cheerful to him as he had been. When he left, I said, “O Messenger of God, so-and-so asked permission and you said what you said, then you were cheerful to him and conversed expansively with him; and you said about so-and-so what you said, and I did not see you treat him as you treated the other.” He said, “O ‘A’ishah, among the worst of people is one who is avoided on account of his obscenity.”
