✧ A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'May my father and mother be your ransom, I and my son bought from so-and-so the fruit of his property. We counted it and gathered it, but no, by the One who honored you with what He honored you with, we did not obtain anything from it except what we ate in our bellies or fed to a poor person hoping for blessing. Then we fell short against him, so we came to ask him to reduce for us the amount we fell short. He swore by God that he would not reduce anything for us.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'He has sworn an oath that he will not do good,' three times. That reached the owner of the fruit, and he came and said: 'May my father and mother be your ransom, if you wish I will reduce what they fell short, and if you wish from the principal whatever you wish.' So he reduced for them what they fell short.
