Translation

✧ I entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon a deceased man from the Ansar while his family were weeping. I said, 'Do you weep while this is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Leave them to weep as long as he is with them, but when he is placed in the grave, they should not weep.' Jabr said, 'I narrated this to Umar b. Abd al-Aziz, and he said to me, "What does 'placed' mean?" I said, "When he is put into his grave."'
