✧ Indeed, some jealousy Allah loves and some He hates, and some pride Allah loves and some He hates. The jealousy Allah loves is jealousy regarding suspicion, and the jealousy Allah hates is jealousy regarding other than suspicion. The pride Allah loves is a servant's taking pride in himself for Allah at the time of battle, and his taking pride in charity. The pride Allah hates is pride in boasting and arrogance, or as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.

machine translationYaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr narrates it, and there is disagreement about it. Ibn Abī ʿAdī and Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated from Ḥajjāj al-Ṣawwāf, from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, from Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, from Ibn Jābir b. ʿAtīk, from his father. Likewise said Abū al-Mughīrah and al-Firyābī from al-Awzāʿī, from Yaḥyā; and likewise said Abān al-ʿAṭṭār from Yaḥyā. Muḥammad b. Bashīr narrated it from Ḥajjāj al-Ṣawwāf, from Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, from Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, from Ibn ʿAtīk, from his father, and he did not say "Ibn Jābir". Likewise said Ḥarb b. Shaddād from Yaḥyā; likewise said Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā al-Dhuhlī from al-Firyābī, from al-Awzāʿī; and likewise said Ibn al-Mubārak from al-Awzāʿī as well, except that Ibn al-Mubārak transmitted it as a mursal report and did not say in it "from his father". The saying of those who said "Ibn Jābir b. ʿAtīk" is closer to the correct view.
