✧ I was one of the sons of the nobles of Persia, and he mentioned the hadith. He said: I set out, with one land raising me and another lowering me, until I passed by a people of the Bedouins, and they enslaved me and sold me until a woman bought me. I heard them mentioning the Prophet ﷺ, and life was hard. I said to her: Grant me a day. She said: Yes. I went and gathered firewood and sold it, and made food with it. I brought it to the Prophet ﷺ and placed it before him. He said: What is this? I said: Charity. He said to his companions: Eat, but he did not eat. I said: This is one of his signs. Then I remained as long as Allah willed me to remain. I said to my mistress: Grant me a day. She said: Yes. I went and gathered firewood and sold it for more than that, and made food. I brought it to him while he was sitting among his companions and placed it before him. He said: What is this? I said: A gift. He placed his hand and said to his companions: Take in the name of Allah. I stood behind him and he lowered his cloak, and there was the seal of prophethood.
