حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ

لَمَّا احْتُضِرَ سَلْمَانُ بَكَى، وَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا عَهْدًا فَتَرَكْنَا مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا: أَنْ يَكُونَ بُلْغَةُ أَحَدِنَا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا كَزَادِ الرَّاكِبِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ نَظَرْنَا فِيمَا تَرَكَ، فَإِذَا قِيمَةُ مَا تَرَكَ بِضْعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ دِرْهَمًا، أَوْ بِضْعَةٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ دِرْهَمًا

Translation

✧ When Salman was at the point of death, he wept and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a covenant with us, but we abandoned what he had covenanted with us: that the sufficiency of one of us from this world should be like the provision of a rider. He said: Then we looked at what he left, and the value of what he left was twenty-some dirhams, or thirty-some dirhams.
