حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ تَوَضَّأَ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: رَأَيْتُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، صَنَعْتَ الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ، قَالَ: عَمْدًا صَنَعْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ.

✧ That on the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of God ﷺ performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. Umar said to him: "I saw you, O Messenger of God, do something today that you did not use to do." He said: "I did it deliberately, O Umar."
