حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَسْتَنِدُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ فَقَالَ قَدْ كَثُرَ النَّاسُ وَلَوْ كَانَ لِي شَيْءٌ يَعْنِي أَقْعُدُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ عَبَّاسٌ فَذَهَبَ أَبِي فَقَطَعَ عِيدَانَ الْمِنْبَرِ مِنَ الْغَابَةِ قَالَ فَمَا أَدْرِي عَمِلَهَا أَبِي أَوْ اسْتَعْمَلَهَا ؟
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to lean against a palm trunk. He said: "The people have become numerous. If only I had something—meaning to sit upon." 'Abbas said: "My father went and cut the timbers of the pulpit from the forest (al-Ghabah)." He said: "I do not know whether my father made it himself or had it made."
