حَدَّثَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ شَاهِرًا يَدَيْهِ قَطُّ يَدْعُو عَلَى مِنْبَرٍ وَلَا غَيْرِهِ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُو إِلَّا يَضَعُ يَدَهُ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَيُشِيرُ بِإِصْبُعِهِ إِشَارَةً

Translation

✧ I never saw the Messenger of God ﷺ raising his hands at all—whether on the pulpit or elsewhere—when making supplication. He would only supplicate by placing his hand level with his shoulders and pointing with his finger, a slight gesture.
