حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَهْلٍ
أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ جَاءَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا وَجَدَ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلًا أَيَقْتُلُهُ؟ قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ فِي شَأْنِهِ مَا ذُكِرَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِنَ التَّلَاعُنِ فَقَالَ قَدْ قُضِيَ فِيكَ وَفِي امْرَأَتِكَ قَالَ فَتَلَاعَنَا وَأَنَا شَاهِدٌ ثُمَّ فَارَقَهَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ He said: A man from the Ansar came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of God, what do you think of a man who finds another man with his wife—should he kill him?" He said: Then God ﷻ revealed concerning his affair what is mentioned in the Quran about mutual cursing (li'an). He said: "It has been decreed regarding you and your wife." He said: Then they both invoked curses while I was present, and then he separated from her in the presence of the Messenger of God ﷺ.
