Translation

✧ ‘Asim said: "Do you think that if a man finds another man with his wife, should he kill him and then you would kill him, or what should he do? Ask the Messenger of God ﷺ about that for me, O ‘Asim." So ‘Asim asked the Prophet ﷺ about that. The Messenger of God ﷺ disliked such questions and criticized it, until ‘Asim felt it weigh heavily upon him from what he heard. Ishaq said: "What he heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ." When ‘Asim returned to his family, ‘Uwaymir came to him and said: "O ‘Asim, what did the Messenger of God ﷺ say to you?" ‘Asim said to ‘Uwaymir: "You have not brought me any good. The Messenger of God ﷺ disliked the question I asked him." ‘Uwaymir said: "By God, I will not stop until I ask him about it." So ‘Uwaymir came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was among the people and said to the Messenger of God ﷺ: "Do you think that if a man finds another man with his wife, should he kill him and then you would kill him, or what should he do?" The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "God has revealed something concerning you and your wife. Go and bring her." Sahl b. Sa‘d said: "So they performed the mutual cursing while I was with the people in the presence of the Messenger of God ﷺ. When they finished, ‘Uwaymir said: 'I have lied against her, O Messenger of God, if I keep her.' So he divorced her three times before the Messenger of God ﷺ commanded him."
