✧ Abu Umamah entered upon Khalid b. Yazid, who placed a cushion for him. Abu Umamah thought it was silk, so he moved away walking backwards until he reached the end of the row. Khalid was speaking to a man, then he turned to Abu Umamah and said to him: “O my brother, what did you think? Did you think it was silk?” Abu Umamah said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘No one who hopes for the days of Allah should enjoy silk.’” Khalid said to him: “O Abu Umamah, did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He said: “O Allah, forgiveness! Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Rather, we were among a people who did not lie to us, nor were we lied to.”
