✧ I used to serve the Prophet ﷺ, then I would come to the mosque when I finished my work and lie down in it. One day the Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was lying down; he nudged me with his foot, and I sat up straight. He said to me: 'O Abu Dharr, how will you act if you are expelled from it (Madinah)?' I said: 'I will return to the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ and to my house.' He said: 'Then how will you act if you are expelled from it?' I said: 'Then I will take my sword and strike with it whoever expels me.' The Prophet ﷺ placed his hand on my shoulder and said: 'Forgiveness, O Abu Dharr - three times - rather, you will comply with them wherever they lead you, and you will be driven along with them wherever they drive you, even if it is a black slave.' Abu Dharr said: When I was exiled to al-Rabadhah and the prayer was established, a black man who was there in charge of the camels of zakat stepped forward. When he saw me, he began to step back to put me forward, but I said: 'Stay as you are; rather, I comply with the command of the Messenger of God ﷺ.'
