حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِصِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ وَيَحُثُّنَا عَلَيْهِ وَيَتَعَاهَدُنَا عِنْدَهُ فَلَمَّا فُرِضَ رَمَضَانُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا بِهِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا عَنْهُ وَلَمْ يَتَعَاهَدْنَا عِنْدَهُ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command the fasting of 'Ashura' and urge us to it, and he would check on us regarding it. But when Ramadan was made obligatory, he neither commanded us to fast it nor forbade us from it, nor did he check on us regarding it.
