✧ Bashir, the Messenger of God's ﷺ companion, narrated to me. In pre-Islamic times he was called Zaḥm b. Ma'bad. He emigrated to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he asked him: What is your name? He said: Zaḥm. He said: No, you are Bashir. So that became his name. He said: While I was walking with the Messenger of God ﷺ, he said: O son of al-Khasaṣiyya, what have you come to resent against God? You have come to walk with the Messenger of God. Abu Shayban said—he is al-Aswad b. Shayban—I think he said: holding his hand. I said: O Messenger of God, may my father and mother be your ransom, I do not resent anything against God [Mighty and Majestic]. Then he mentioned the hadith, and he said: O wearer of the two sandals, take off your sandals.
