✧ I was holding the reins of the camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the middle of the days of Tashriq, keeping the people away from him. He said: "O people, do you know what day you are in? And what month you are in? And what land you are in?" They said: "In a sacred day, a sacred month, and a sacred land." He said: "Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to you like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours, until the day you meet Him." Then he said: "Listen to me and you will live. Beware, do not wrong. Beware, do not wrong. Beware, do not wrong. It is not lawful to take the wealth of a Muslim except with his own willing consent. Beware, every blood, wealth, and legacy of pride from the pre-Islamic era is under these two feet of mine until the Day of Resurrection. The first blood to be abolished is the blood of Rabi'a b. al-Harith b. 'Abd al-Muttalib, who was being nursed among Banu Layth and was killed by Hudhayl. Beware, every usury from the pre-Islamic era is abolished, and Allah [Mighty and Majestic] has decreed that the first usury to be abolished is the usury of al-'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib. You have your capital sums; you do not wrong and you are not wronged. Beware, time has returned to its original state as on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth." Then he recited: "Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the Book of Allah, from the day He created the heavens and the earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the upright religion, so do not wrong yourselves therein." (Qur'an 9:36) "Beware, do not return after me to disbelief, striking one another's necks. Beware, Satan has despaired of being worshipped by those who pray, but he is in stirring up discord among you. Fear Allah [Mighty and Majestic] regarding women, for they are captives in your hands; they do not possess anything for themselves. They have a right over you, and you have a right over them: that they should not allow anyone you dislike to tread on your beds, and should not permit anyone you dislike into your homes. If you fear their rebellion, admonish them, leave them alone in the beds, and strike them with a blow that is not severe." Humayd said: I said to al-Hasan: "What is severe?" He said: "That which leaves a mark." "And they have their provision and clothing according to what is reasonable. You have taken them as a trust from Allah, and made their private parts lawful to you by the word of Allah [Mighty and Majestic]. Beware, whoever has a trust, let him return it to the one who entrusted him with it." Then he spread his hands and said: "Beware, have I conveyed? Beware, have I conveyed? Beware, have I conveyed?" Then he said: "Let the one who is present convey to the one who is absent, for perhaps the one to whom it is conveyed will be more mindful than the one who hears it."
