✧ I went out from my family seeking the Prophet ﷺ, and there he was standing with a man facing him. I thought they had some need. The Ansari said: By God, the Messenger of God ﷺ stood so long that I began to feel pity for him. When he finished, I said: 'O Messenger of God, that man kept you standing so long that I began to pity you.' He said: 'Did you see him?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Do you know who he was?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'That was Gabriel ﷺ. He kept enjoining me about the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir.' Then he said: 'If you had greeted him, he would have returned your greeting.'
