✧ From the narration of Samurah bin Jundub, about the Prophet ﷺ.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَتْ لَهُ سَكْتَتَانِ؛ سَكْتَةٌ حِينَ يَفْتَتِحُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَسَكْتَةٌ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ السُّورَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ، فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ فَقَالَ: كَذَبَ سَمُرَةُ، فَكَتَبَ فِي ذَلِكَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، فَقَالَ: صَدَقَ سَمُرَةُ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had two pauses: a pause when he began the prayer, and a pause when he finished the second surah before bowing. That was mentioned to 'Imran b. Husayn, who said, "Samurah lied." So he wrote about that to Madinah to Ubayy b. Ka'b, who said, "Samurah spoke the truth."
