حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ بَهْزٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي قَالَ
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ ؟ قَالَ: احْفَظْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجَتِكَ، أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ. قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَإِذَا كَانَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ ؟ قَالَ: إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَرَيَنَّهَا. قُلْتُ: فَإِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا ؟ قَالَ: فَاللهُ [تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى] أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَا مِنْهُ

✧ I said, “O Messenger of Allah, our private parts: what may we expose of them and what should we conceal?” He said, “Guard your private part except from your wife or what your right hand possesses.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what if the people are mixed together?” He said, “If you can ensure that no one sees it, then let no one see it.” I said, “What if one of us is alone?” He said, “Allah [Blessed and Exalted] is more deserving that one be modest before Him.”
