✧ Ali proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahl and promised marriage. Fatimah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "Your people are saying that you do not get angry for your daughters, and Ali has proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahl." The Prophet ﷺ stood up, praised Allah and extolled Him, and said: "Fatimah is a piece of me, and I dislike that she be harmed. And he mentioned Abu al-'As b. al-Rabi' and praised him much. And he said: 'The daughter of the Prophet of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah will not be joined together.' So Ali abandoned that."
