حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ أَنَّ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ قَالَ

جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الرُّمَاةِ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ - وَكَانُوا خَمْسِينَ رَجُلًا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: وَوَضَعَهُمْ مَوْضِعًا وَقَالَ: إِنْ رَأَيْتُمُونَا تَخْطَفُنَا الطَّيْرُ فَلَا تَبْرَحُوا، حَتَّى أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ، وَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمُونَا ظَهَرْنَا عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ وَأَوْطَأْنَاهُمْ فَلَا تَبْرَحُوا، حَتَّى أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ قَالَ: فَهَزَمُوهُمْ. قَالَ: فَأَنَا وَاللهِ رَأَيْتُ النِّسَاءَ يَشْتَدِدْنَ عَلَى الْجَبَلِ، وَقَدْ بَدَتْ أَسْوُقُهُنَّ وَخَلَاخِلُهُنَّ رَافِعَاتٍ ثِيَابَهُنَّ. فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ: الْغَنِيمَةَ أَيْ قَوْمِ الْغَنِيمَةَ، ظَهَرَ أَصْحَابُكُمْ، فَمَا تَنْظُرُونَ ؟ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ: أَنَسِيتُمْ مَا قَالَ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالُوا: إِنَّا وَاللهِ لَنَأْتِيَنَّ النَّاسَ، فَلَنُصِيبَنَّ مِنَ الْغَنِيمَةِ، فَلَمَّا أَتَوْهُمْ صُرِفَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ، فَأَقْبَلُوا مُنْهَزِمِينَ. فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَدْعُوهُمُ الرَّسُولُ فِي أُخْرَاهُمْ، فَلَمْ يَبْقَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَيْرُ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا، فَأَصَابُوا مِنَّا سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ أَصَابَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ أَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَةً: سَبْعِينَ أَسِيرًا، وَسَبْعِينَ قَتِيلًا، فَقَالَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ: أَفِي الْقَوْمِ مُحَمَّدٌ ؟ أَفِي الْقَوْمِ مُحَمَّدٌ ؟ أَفِي الْقَوْمِ مُحَمَّدٌ ؟ ثَلَاثًا، [قَالَ: ] فَنَهَاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُجِيبُوهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَفِي الْقَوْمِ ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ؟ أَفِي الْقَوْمِ ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ؟ أَفِي الْقَوْمِ ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؟ أَفِي الْقَوْمِ ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؟ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ: أَمَّا هَؤُلَاءِ، فَقَدْ قُتِلُوا وَقَدْ كُفِيتُمُوهُمْ، فَمَا مَلَكَ عُمَرُ نَفْسَهُ أَنْ قَالَ: كَذَبْتَ وَاللهِ يَا عَدُوَّ اللهِ، إِنَّ الَّذِينَ عَدَدْتَ لَأَحْيَاءٌ كُلُّهُمْ، وَقَدْ بَقِيَ لَكَ مَا يَسُوءُكَ. فَقَالَ: يَوْمٌ بِيَوْمِ بَدْرٍ، وَالْحَرْبُ سِجَالٌ، إِنَّكُمْ سَتَجِدُونَ فِي الْقَوْمِ مُثْلَةً، لَمْ آمُرْ بِهَا وَلَمْ تَسُؤْنِي. ثُمَّ أَخَذَ يَرْتَجِزُ: أُعْلُ هُبَلُ، أُعْلُ هُبَلُ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَلَا تُجِيبُونَهُ ؟ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا نَقُولُ ؟ قَالَ: قُولُوا: اللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ. قَالَ: إِنَّ الْعُزَّى لَنَا، وَلَا عُزَّى لَكُمْ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَلَا تُجِيبُونَهُ ؟ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا نَقُولُ ؟ قَالَ: قُولُوا: اللهُ مَوْلَانَا وَلَا مَوْلَى لَكُمْ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ put Abdullah b. Jubayr in charge of the archers on the day of Uhud, and they were fifty men. He said: He placed them in a position and said: If you see us being snatched by birds, do not leave until I send for you. And if you see us prevail over the enemy and trample them, do not leave until I send for you. He said: Then they routed them. He said: By Allah, I saw the women running up the mountain, their legs and anklets showing, lifting their garments. The companions of Abdullah b. Jubayr said: The booty! O people, the booty! Your companions have prevailed, so what are you waiting for? Abdullah b. Jubayr said: Have you forgotten what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to you? They said: By Allah, we will go to the people and take some of the booty. When they went to them, their faces were turned, and they retreated in defeat. That is the one whom the Messenger called from behind them, and only twelve men remained with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They killed seventy of us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions had killed one hundred and forty of the polytheists on the day of Badr: seventy captives and seventy killed. Abu Sufyan said: Is Muhammad among the people? Is Muhammad among the people? Is Muhammad among the people? Three times. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade them to answer him. Then he said: Is Ibn Abi Quhafa among the people? Is Ibn Abi Quhafa among the people? Is Ibn al-Khattab among the people? Is Ibn al-Khattab among the people? Then he turned to his companions and said: As for these, they have been killed and you have been spared them. Umar could not control himself and said: You lie, by Allah, O enemy of Allah. Those you mentioned are all alive, and what will grieve you remains for you. He said: A day for the day of Badr, and war is alternating. You will find mutilation among the people that I did not command and that did not grieve me. Then he began to chant: Exalted be Hubal, exalted be Hubal. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Will you not answer him? They said: O Messenger of Allah, what should we say? He said: Say: Allah is higher and more majestic. He said: Al-Uzza is ours, and there is no Uzza for you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Will you not answer him? They said: O Messenger of Allah, what should we say? He said: Say: Allah is our protector, and you have no protector.
