حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ أَخِي مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ

إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالَا عَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ أَوْ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ.

Translation

  5. ʿIyāḍ b. Ḥimār
  6. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ The sin of the two who insult each other is on the one who started, as long as the wronged one does not transgress—or as long as the wronged one does not go beyond bounds.
