✧ We came to the Messenger of God ﷺ, we being four hundred and forty, asking him for food. The Prophet ﷺ said to Umar: "Get up and give them." He said: "O Messenger of God, I have nothing but what sustains me and the children through the summer." Waki' said: "Al-qayz in the speech of the Arabs is four months." He said: "Get up and give them." Umar said: "O Messenger of God, hearing and obedience." He said: So Umar got up, and we got up with him. He took us up to a room of his and took out the key from his belt and opened the door. Dukayn said: And there in the room was dates like a crouching young camel. He said: "Help yourselves." He said: So each man of us took what he needed, as much as he wished. He said: Then I turned around, and I was among the last of them, and it was as if we had not taken a single date from it.
