✧ We came to the Messenger of God ﷺ, forty riders and four hundred, asking him for food. He said to Umar: "Go and give them." He said: "O Messenger of God, nothing remains but some measures of dates, which I do not think will sustain me through the summer." He said: "Go and give them." He said: "Hearing and obedience." He said: So Umar took out the key from his belt and opened the door, and there was something like a crouching young camel of dates. He said: "Take." So each man of us took what he liked. Then I turned around, and I was among the last of the people, and it was as if we had not taken a single date.
