machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) report is the hadith of Shuʿbah.

machine translationAbū Zurʿah ruled in favor of Shuʿbah, since he did not know of anyone who followed Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī. I found in my own records, from Yūnus b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Yazīd b. Wahb, from Abū Saʿīd al-Tamīmī, meaning Shabīb b. Saʿīd, from Rawḥ b. al-Qāsim, from Abū Jaʿfar, from Abū Umāmah b. Sahl b. Ḥunayf, from his paternal uncle ʿUthmān b. Ḥunayf, from the Prophet ﷺ, the like of the hadith of Hishām al-Dastuwāʾī, with a fuller text. Rawḥ b. al-Qāsim is trustworthy (thiqah), and his hadith is gathered. So the agreement of al-Dastuwāʾī and Rawḥ b. al-Qāsim indicates that their narration is more sound (aṣaḥḥ).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17447
