✧ I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me some of what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has taught you.' He said: 'When you have prayed the morning prayer (subh), then refrain from praying until the sun rises. When it has risen, do not pray until it has ascended, for it rises between the two horns of a devil, and at that time the disbelievers prostrate to it. When it has risen to the height of a spear or two spears, then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended until—meaning—the spear casts a shadow (i.e., until noon). Then refrain from praying, for at that time Hell is kindled (tusjar). When the shadow declines (after noon), then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended until you pray the afternoon prayer (asr). When you have prayed the afternoon prayer, then refrain from praying until the sun sets, for it sets between the two horns of a devil, and at that time the disbelievers prostrate to it.'
