✧ He narrated to me—about the Messenger of God ﷺ spreading his left thigh flat in the middle of the prayer and at its end, sitting on his left hip, placing his left hand on his left thigh, standing his right foot upright, placing his right hand on his right thigh, and standing his index finger upright, declaring the oneness of his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, with it—‘Imran b. Abi Anas, the brother of Banu ‘Amir b. Lu’ayy, and he was trustworthy, from Abu al-Qasim Miqsam, the freedman of ‘Abd Allah b. al-Harith b. Nawfal, who said: "A man from the people of Madinah narrated to me, saying: 'I prayed in the mosque of Banu Ghifar. When I sat in my prayer, I spread my left thigh flat and stood my index finger upright.' He said: 'Khaffaf b. Ima’ b. Rahdah al-Ghifari saw me—and he had companionship with the Messenger of God ﷺ—while I was doing that.' He said: 'When I finished my prayer, he said to me: "O my son, why did you stand your finger upright like this?"' He said: 'And what do you object to? I saw people doing that.' He said: 'You have done right. When the Messenger of God ﷺ prayed, he used to do that. The polytheists used to say: "Muhammad only does this with his finger to cast a spell with it," but they lied. The Messenger of God ﷺ only did that to declare the oneness of his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, with it.'"
