حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ
إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ الْفِرْيَةِ ثَلَاثٌ: أَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى عَيْنَيْهِ يَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ، وَلَمْ يَرَ. وَأَنْ يَفْتَرِيَ عَلَى وَالِدَيْهِ يَدَّعِي إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ، وَأَنْ يَقُولَ: قَدْ سَمِعْتُ، وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ

✧ Indeed, the greatest of slanders are three: that a man slanders his own eyes, saying 'I saw' when he did not see; that he slanders his parents, claiming to belong to a father other than his own; and that he says 'I heard' when he did not hear.
