✧ I witnessed the Messenger of God ﷺ one day when a man came to him and said, 'O Messenger of God, I have committed a transgression against one of the limits set by God, Mighty and Majestic, so carry out God's prescribed punishment on me!' He turned away from him. Then he came to him a second time, and he turned away from him. Then he said it a third time, and he turned away from him. Then the prayer was called, and when he finished the prayer, he came to him a fourth time and said, 'I have committed a transgression against one of the limits set by God, Mighty and Majestic, so carry out God's prescribed punishment on me, Mighty and Majestic!' He said: He called him and said, 'Did you not perform ablution well, then attend the prayer with us just now?' He said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Go, for it is your expiation.'
