✧ He went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward Najd. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, he returned with them. The midday rest overtook them one day in a valley full of thorny trees. The Prophet ﷺ dismounted, and the people scattered among the thorny trees seeking shade under the trees. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted and sought shade under a tree, and hung his sword on it. Jabir said: “We slept there a nap. Then the Prophet ﷺ called us, and we came to him, and there was a bedouin sitting with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘This man drew my sword while I was sleeping, and I woke up while it was in his hand, unsheathed. He said: “Who will protect you from me?” I said: “Allah.” He said: “Who will protect you from me?” I said: “Allah.” So he sheathed his sword and sat down.’ The Prophet ﷺ did not punish him, even though he had done that.”
