حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ شِبْلٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَزْدَوَيْهِ قَالَ
خَرَجْتُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَامِلٌ عَلَيْهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْتَخْلَفَ، قَالَ: فَسَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ وَكَانَ بِهِ وَضَحٌ شَدِيدٌ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ عُمَرُ يُصَلِّي بِنَا، فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ: مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَشْبَهَ صَلَاةً بِصَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَتَى؛ كَانَ يُخَفِّفُ فِي تَمَامٍ
Translation

✧ I went out to Madinah with ʿUmar b. Yazīd, and ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz was its governor before he became caliph. He said: I heard Anas b. Mālik, and he had severe leprosy. He said: ʿUmar was leading us in prayer, and Anas said: I have never seen anyone whose prayer more closely resembles the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than this young man. He would make it light yet complete.
