✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ gave to Abu Sufyan, ʿUyaynah, al-Aqraʿ, and Suhayl b. ʿAmr among the latter on the day of Hunayn. The Ansar said: "O Messenger of God, our swords are dripping with their blood while they go off with the spoils?!" This reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he gathered them in a tent of his until it was full. He said: "Is there anyone among you other than yourselves?" They said: "No, except our sister's son." He said: "The son of a people's sister is one of them." Then he said: "Did you say such and such?" They said: "Yes." He said: "You are the inner garment and the people are the outer garment. Are you not pleased that the people go off with the sheep and the camel while you go off with the Messenger of God to your homes?" They said: "Yes." He said: "The Ansar are my stomach and my close companions. If the people took a valley and the Ansar took a mountain pass, I would take the mountain pass of the Ansar. Were it not for the migration, I would have been a man of the Ansar." Ḥammād said: He gave a hundred camels, naming each one of these.
