✧ A man used to write for the Messenger of God ﷺ. When he dictated to him 'Samīʿan' (All-Hearing), he would write 'Samīʿan Baṣīran' (All-Hearing, All-Seeing). He said: "Leave it." And when he dictated 'ʿAlīman Ḥakīman' (All-Knowing, All-Wise), he wrote 'ʿAlīman Ḥalīman' (All-Knowing, All-Forbearing) — Ḥammād said something like that. He said: He had read al-Baqarah and Āl ʿImrān, and whoever read them had read much of the Qur'an. He then went and became a Christian, saying: "I used to write for Muhammad whatever I wished, and he would say: 'Leave it.'" He died and was buried, but the earth expelled him twice or thrice. Abu Talhah said: "I saw him cast up above the ground."
