✧ The believers will gather on the Day of Resurrection and will be inspired with the idea: “If only we could intercede with our Lord to relieve us from this place of ours.” They will come to Adam and say: “O Adam, you are the father of mankind; God created you with His hand, made His angels prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things. Intercede for us with our Lord [Mighty and Majestic] to relieve us from this place of ours.” Adam will say to them: “I am not the one for that,” and he will mention his sin that he committed and be too ashamed before his Lord [Mighty and Majestic] because of it, and he will say: “But go to Noah, for he is the first messenger God sent to the people of the earth.” They will come to Noah, and he will say: “I am not the one for that,” and he will mention his error: his asking his Lord [Mighty and Majestic] about something of which he had no knowledge, and he will be too ashamed before his Lord because of it, and he will say: “But go to Abraham, the friend of the Merciful [Mighty and Majestic].” They will come to him, and he will say: “I am not the one for that, but go to Moses ﷺ, a servant to whom God spoke and gave the Torah.” They will come to Moses, and he will say: “I am not the one for that,” and he will mention the soul he killed without right, and he will be too ashamed before his Lord because of it, and he will say: “But go to Jesus, the servant of God, His messenger, His word, and His spirit.” They will come to Jesus, and he will say: “I am not the one for that, but go to Muhammad ﷺ, a servant whose past and future sins God has forgiven.” So they will come to me. Al-Hasan said this word: “Then I will stand and walk between two rows of the believers.” Anas said: “Until I seek permission from my Lord [Mighty and Majestic], and permission will be granted to me. When I see my Lord [Mighty and Majestic], I will fall—or drop—prostrate to my Lord, and He will leave me as long as God wills to leave me.” He said: “Then it will be said: ‘Raise your head, Muhammad; speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.’ So I will raise my head and praise Him with a praise He will teach me, then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, and I will admit them into Paradise. Then I will return to Him a second time. When I see my Lord [Mighty and Majestic], I will fall—or drop—prostrate to my Lord, and He will leave me as long as God wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Raise your head, Muhammad; speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.’ So I will raise my head and praise Him with a praise He will teach me, then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, and I will admit them into Paradise. Then I will return to Him a third time. When I see my Lord, I will fall—or drop—prostrate to my Lord [Mighty and Majestic], and He will leave me as long as God wills to leave me. Then I will return a fourth time and say: ‘O Lord, none remains except those whom the Qur'an has held back.’” Anas b. Malik narrated to us that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Then there will come out of the Fire those who said ‘There is no god but God’ and had in their heart good equal to the weight of a barley grain. Then there will come out of the Fire those who said ‘There is no god but God’ and had in their heart good equal to the weight of a wheat grain. Then there will come out of the Fire those who said ‘There is no god but God’ and had in their heart good equal to the weight of an atom.”
