✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited a man among the Muslims who had become like a fledgling. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Had you been supplicating for anything or asking Him for it? He said: Yes, I used to say: O Allah, whatever punishment You would give me in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Glory be to Allah, you cannot bear it or endure it. Why did you not say: O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire? He said: Then he supplicated to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, healed him.

machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is from Ḥumayd, from Thābit, from Anas. I said: "What about those who narrated it in this way?" They said: "Khālid b. al-Ḥārith, al-Anṣārī and others." I said: "So did these make a mistake?" They said: "No, but they shortened it, and Ḥumayd would often narrate in mursal form."
