✧ A son of Abu Talha fell ill, and Abu Talha went out to the mosque, and the boy died. Umm Sulaym prepared the deceased and said to her family: Let none of you inform Abu Talha of the death of his son. He returned to his family with some people from the mosque among his companions. He said: How is the boy? She said: He is as good as he can be. She brought them their dinner, and they ate, and the people left. The woman then did what a woman does. When it was the end of the night, she said: O Abu Talha, have you not seen the family of so-and-so? They borrowed a loan and enjoyed it, but when it was asked back, they seemed to dislike that. He said: They were unfair. She said: Your son was a loan from God, Blessed and Exalted, and God has taken him back. So he uttered the istirja' and praised God. When morning came, he went to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and when he saw him, he said: May God bless you both in your night. She became pregnant with 'Abdullah and gave birth to him at night, and she disliked to perform the tahnik on him until the Messenger of God ﷺ did it. He said: I carried him in the morning with me, and I had some 'ajwa dates. I found him applying tar to his camels or branding them. I said: O Messenger of God, Umm Sulaym gave birth last night, and she disliked to perform the tahnik on him until the Messenger of God ﷺ does it. He said: Do you have anything? I said: 'Ajwa dates. He took some of them, chewed them, then gathered his saliva and fed it to him, and he began to smack his lips. He said: The Ansar love dates. He said: I said: O Messenger of God, name him. He said: He is 'Abdullah.
