✧ I said, "Will you not come with us to the palm trees so we can talk?" He said, "Okay." So he went out with us. I said, "Tell me what you heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying about the Night of Decree." He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe the first ten days of Ramadan in Itikaf, so we also observed Itikaf with him. Then Jibril came to him and said, 'What you are seeking is ahead of you, so observe Itikaf during the middle ten days of Ramadan.' So we observed Itikaf with him during the middle ten days. Then Jibril came to him and said, 'What you are seeking is ahead of you.' When the morning of the twentieth of Ramadan came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood as a preacher and said, 'Whoever observed Itikaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ should return, for I saw the Night of Decree but I forgot it, and it is in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan, and I saw myself prostrating in mud and water.' Someone asked, 'What do you see in the sky?' He said, 'A cloud like a pitcher.' Then a cloud came and the roof of the mosque was made of palm branches, so it rained on us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer, and I saw the traces of mud and water on the forehead of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his beard, confirming his vision."
