حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ رَجُلٍعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ
إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْجُلُوسَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ، وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: عَلَى الصُّعُدَاتِ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَا بُدَّ لَنَا مِنْ مَجَالِسِنَا. قَالَ: فَأَدُّوا حَقَّهَا، قَالُوا: وَمَا حَقُّهَا ؟ قَالَ: رَدُّ السَّلَامِ، وَغَضُّ الْبَصَرِ، وَأَرْشِدُوا السَّائِلَ، وَأْمُرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ، وَانْهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ
Translation

✧ Beware of sitting in the roads. And perhaps Ma'mar said: on the paths. They said: O Messenger of Allah, we cannot avoid our gatherings. He said: Then give the road its due. They said: What is its due? He said: Returning the greeting, lowering the gaze, guiding the one who asks, commanding good, and forbidding evil.
