حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

أَرْسَلَنِي أَهْلِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَسْأَلُهُ طَعَامًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ يَصْبِرْ يُصَبِّرْهُ اللهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْتَغْنِ يُغْنِهِ اللهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْتَعْفِفْ يُعِفَّهُ اللهُ، وَمَا رُزِقَ الْعَبْدُ رِزْقًا أَوْسَعَ لَهُ مِنَ الصَّبْرِ

Translation

✧ My family sent me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ask him for food. I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon, and I heard him say: "Whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will enrich him. Whoever seeks chastity, Allah will keep him chaste. No servant has been given a provision more expansive for him than patience."
