- Abū Saʿīd a freed slave of al-Mahrī
✧ My brother died, and I came to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and said: O Abu Sa'id, my brother has died and left dependents, and I have dependents, and we have no wealth. I have resolved to take my dependents and my brother's dependents and settle in one of these garrison cities, so that it may be easier for us in our livelihood. He said: Woe to you! Do not leave, for I heard him say - meaning the Prophet ﷺ -: Whoever patiently endures its hardship and severity, I will be an intercessor or a witness for him on the Day of Resurrection.
