حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ حَدَّثَنَا عَطِيَّةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ بِبَابِ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

إِنَّ أَهْلَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى لَيَرَاهُمْ مَنْ تَحْتَهُمْ، كَمَا تَرَوْنَ النَّجْمَ الطَّالِعَ فِي الْأُفُقِ مِنْ آفَاقِ السَّمَاءِ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ مِنْهُمْ وَأَنْعَمَا.

✧ Indeed, those below them see the people of the highest ranks just as you see the rising star on the horizon of the sky. And Abu Bakr and Umar are among them, and how excellent they are.

Dāwūd: 147 AH. Wakīʿ said, and more than one: 148 AH. And al-Khaṭīb considered it correct. Also said: 145 AH
