حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رُدَيْحُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ
أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَاهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَجُلاً نَالَ مِنْكِ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فَقَالَتْ إِنْ نُؤْبَنَ بِمَا لَيْسَ فِينَا فَطَالَمَا زُكِّينَا بِمَا لَيْسَ فِينَا
Translation
✧ That a man came to her and said: "A man disparaged you in the presence of ʿAbd al-Malik." She said: "If we are accused of what is not in us, how often have we been praised for what is not in us."
