✧ The imam has been appointed only to be followed. When he says the takbir, say the takbir; when he bows, bow; when he prostrates, prostrate; when he raises, raise; when he sits, sit; and when he stands, stand. The imam is a protection and guarantor for the prayer of the people. If he prays it at its proper time and upholds its requirements—I think he said—he will have his reward and the like of their rewards, without diminishing anything from their rewards. But if he does not pray it at its proper time and does not uphold its requirements, he will bear its burden and their burdens, and nothing will be upon them.
